Silhouette of a moose with antlers, with the word 'DUATHLON' in bold orange letters below, and '10km | 40km | 5km' in smaller orange text. Background features a blue gradient with faint text.

The duathlon is under-rated for its difficulty, but works great when your swim is rusty.

This one is a 10km run, followed by a 40km bike, and then a tasty treat 5km to finish off your legs.

The 10km turnaround is labeled as “Olympic” on the map.

The 5km turnaround is labeled as “Sprint” on the map.

Run #1 – 10km

The run course takes you through the town of Stony Plain and it’s trail system.

On your first run you start under the race finish line arch and run out with the pond on your left, run south on 50th and follow the path system, turning around at the 10km sign and cone (OLYMPIC distance). Finish by running into transition through the grass path (not finish line).

Bike – 40km

Leave the transition zone turning left on 50th Street, turn right on Parkland Hwy feeder lane, continue under freeway looping onto 48th ST.  Turn north and continue on Hwy 779 to turn around then return to Stony Plain.  Turn right at 44th Ave (Tim Hortons), turn right at 50th St, returning to transition zone.  Technical support will be provided on course but make sure you have the appropriate supplies in case of mechanical issues.

Run #2 – 5km

On your second run you will exit transition and run across the grass up to the path (the way you finished Run #1), out to 50 Street and South to the course, turning at the 5KM sign (SPRINT).  Upon return complete your final run at the official finish line.
